Cultural Reflection
- For my project, I was inspired to talk about the topic of Cultural Adaptation after I learned about it in my intercultural communication class that I took in my fall semester of senior year.
- Whenever I learned about this topic, I realized that it was a very relevant topic to my experiences in college. For example, I am an out of state student from Texas at the University of Alabama. Ever since I have come to UA, I have had to cultural adapt into a new place. Overtime, I was able to find my place within the campus due to the opportunities the university gave to me as a student.
- In my textbook for the class titled Intercultural Communication in Context, the book explains that the process of Cultural Adaptation is an idea of adjusting to a culture, as well as finally feeling comfortable in a new environment (Martin & Nakayama, 2018, 332).
- This topic really reflects on my experiences as a student at the University of Alabama, so it was wonderful to connect this topic throughout my paper to material I have learned in Communication Studies courses.
